Violet CtP Technology Is Viable
Lower operational costs is the main plus point

Talking on CtP technology, leading technical writer, Laurel Brunner recommends violet laser diode. Flexibility, cost and reduced ink usage are among the many advantages of violet CtP. A proven technology in commercial printing, Violet CtP is beginning to penetrate the newspaper market. Leading equipment and plate vendors are supporting this technology with major product introductions. The main attraction for users is the reduced cost of operation, since the laser diode is designed to last as long as the engine. CtP, regardless of technology, is said to offer the highest level of dot reproduction.
According to Brunner, who along with other partners owns research company Digital Dots, one can find new print applications in bill printing and single use marketing material. Speaking at a recent IPP conference in New Delhi, Brunner, also hinted at technology concerns. These include factors such as operational environment, return on investment, suitability for applications and support costs.
