UPM Raflatac Commissions Plants In India, China

UPM Raflatac, a world leader in self-adhesive labelstock and release liners, has commissioned their new factory near Mumbai during December 2006. The plant will slit wide-width labelstock rolls into smaller sizes for catering to specific customer requirements in India at short lead-times for meeting the “short call-up” demand. This is UPM Raflatac's first plant in India.

They have also commissioned a new $ 40 million state-of-the-art labelstock manufacturing plant in Changshu in China to service the requirements of the rapidly growing demand for labels in China and the Asia Pacific region. The factory is located next to the UPM paper mill which has a captive power plant, effluent treatment plant and harbour on the Yangtze river.

UPM Raflatac also recently doubled their film labelstock production capacity in Europe during December 2006 and are expanding in North America through the setting up of a new facility in Dixon, Ill., USA
