Paper mills plans capacity expansion.


Star paper mills on the fast ‘trek’. The company is planning to pump in Rs800 million for capacity expansion, captive power project and de- bottling of manufacturing operations. The company has been on a cost rationalization drive in the past and is looking for opportunities in the niche segment of paper.

As part of the project the company will install a new captive power unit with a capacity of 16MW, which will replace the current DG set. In addition, the company is alos de- bottling its operations which will increase paper production capacity to up to 10- 15%.
These initiatives are expectes to be completed by second of ’05.

The company is also planning to enter plantations to meet their raw material requirement.
Currently the company produces 64,250 tonnes of paper, from a production unit, which, is running at its 100% capacity.
