Pack A Powerful `Pouch`
In conversation with N. Siva Shankaran, Chief Operating Officer, Floeter India
N. Siva Shankaran, Chief Operating Officer, Floeter India talks about the initiatives taken by the company after takeover by Paharpur 3P.
How is Floeter India positioning itself in the Indian retort pouch packaging industry?
Floeter India has placed itself as one of the market leaders in retort pouch packaging in India. However the imports in to the country are still in considerable quantity and China, South Korea, Taiwan are amongst the major suppliers to the Indian market.
Floeter India is improving its supply chain to expand its footprint against the imported material.
How would you comment on the present pouch packaging segment of India?
This segment is vast considering the different end products packed. The non food segment is relatively growing slow compared to the food segment. Also there is a gap in the availability of good pick and fill machines to allow customers easy set up of new production lines.
Market size of 'Stand up Pouches' is still small compared to developed markets and we see a huge scope for growing this format in India.
How has the acquisition by Paharpur added to the objectives of Floeter India?
Paharpur's focus has been to expand its presence in the pouch packaging segment and Floeter India's acquisition has addressed that objective. Also the printed retort requirements of our customers would be developed in-house with Paharpur's technical prowess and Floeter India's specialty retort pouch making capability.
Brief us on some of your major clients in India.
Floeter India is working with all major customers in 'Ready to Eat' which includes Kohinoor Foods, ADF Foods, Tasty Bites, Capital Foods etc.
What should we look forward to from the company in coming days?
The company will work jointly with the Indian Food Processing industry to develop new applications to its range of products. It will position itself as a single stop for all retort requirements to Indian companies.
