Oxfordbookstore.com in expansion spree
Plans outlets in 8 more cities
Apeejay Surendra-group promoted Oxfordbookstore.com is planning to open new bookstores and warehouses in eight more cities to expand its distribution network. The company, which currently has a bookstore in Kolkata, will soon start operations in other major cities.
According to COO Mr. Sanjeev Mehra, ``As volumes of online sales buildup we feel the need to expand our distribution network so that the delivery time can be reduced. We are getting an average of 15 orders a day resulting into an average sale of around Rs 12,500 per day. We expect to increase this to Rs 30,000 per day by 2002.`` the company plans to set up shops and warehouses in eight cities in the next three years and plans to invest about Rs 15mn this year on marketing.
Oxfordbookstore.com is one of the four online initiatives of the Apeejay group, which also has Teastall.com, a tea boutique, Stockmarket.com, a stock trading extension of Apeejay Securities and Parkhotels.com for its hospitality business.
