Packaging and printing of consumer goods has underdone drastic change in recent times. The quality has improved. Also many items (eg. edible oil, vanaspati etc) which were sold loose in rural areas, now come with a packing making it easy to maintain hygiene and storing. With the concept of packaged food evolving in India packaging type and quality is set to change further. This will necessitate application of technology in the machines to obtain required quality and productivity. One of the major technologies applied in machines in recent times is Motion Control to increase the productivity and quality output. And there in comes the L&T Yaskawa range of servo drives and machine controllers for use in packaging and printing machines.
L&T Yaskawa specialises in providing high performance products and solutions to many packaging and printing machines like vertical form fill seal machine, horizontal flow wrap machine, labeling machine, bag making machine, thermoforming machine, blister packing machine, bottle filling machine, etc. It is instrumental in substantially reducing cycle time of these machines thereby providing higher productivity with much better quality of the end products.
Sigma- V Servo Drives: They deliver perhaps the fastest settling time of 0-4 ms, thus significantly reducing cycle time of machine. These servo drives have special feature of 'Tuneless Function' and does not require any tuning to achieve standard performance. Sigma-V servo responds rapidly to changing load conditions through self auto setting of gains and parameters. One of the dramatic features of Sigma-V Servo is 'Vibration Suppression Function' by which Servo Drive enables the arrest of unwanted vibration of a machine.
Sigma-V Servomotors are very compact and enable smaller floor space of machine. These servo motors have higher peak torque (up to 350 percent) and can quickly accelerate to rated speed by reducing cycle time. Sigma-V Servomotors can withstand vibrations in machine up to 5G, which is twice the vibration resistance of normal servos. Sigma-V Servo motors come with inbuilt serial encoder of 20 bit type (1 million PPR) there by providing high resolution which leads to accuracy of machine in terms of Nanometers. L&T Yaskawa also has Sigma-II series and JUNMA series servo drives. Sigma-II series servo drives are available in the range of 30-90 kW. JUNMA servos are available from 100-750W.
Xtra Drive is a servo pack with inbuilt controller unit suitable to control single axis or two axes machine( with less I/O's) without the use of additional PLC or controller unit. The program tool is inbuilt with tuning software and uses structured text as the programming language. It has programmable 7 DI and 3 DO (with option of adding 8 DI / 8 DO card). This also has interrupts for use with registration sensors. With PLC or Controller, the update times are very fast enabling higher start stops required for cut to length and flying shear. There is also a higher output because of Patented Tuning Algorithm called NCT (Non Linear Control Technique).
Machine Controllers: MP2000 series is a true multi axis machine controller capable of executing synchronised motion through motion program and ladder sequence code. It can control up to 256 servo axis with linear interpolation, circular interpolation and helical interpolation for all axes. There are different types of machine controllers available, such as PCI type, Expandable rack type, Block type and IPC type (with 15”TFT touchscreen) to suit to individual machine requirements.
Furthermore L&T Yaskawa has an extensive range of DD servo motors (high torque hollow shaft servo motors) and linear servo motors for applications in packaging and printing machines. L&T Automation also provides a complete range of AC / DC Drives, PLC's, soft starters and automation solutions.
