Kodak to stop making Black and White Photo Paper
The photographic paper is a niche product for fine art photographers

Black and White Photo Paper, the century old tradition with Eastman Kodak Co will now be discontinued. The photographic paper is a niche product for fine art photographers and hobbyists that is being supplanted by digital imaging systems.

In an announcement made recently by Kodak, it expressed its intentions of discontinuing production of paper, specifically designed for black and white film, by the end of this year. The paper is manufactured at a plant in Brazil. ``It’s a shame to see it go,’’ said Bill Schiffner, editor of Imaging Business magazine in Melville, Newyork, in an interview.

Kodak however declined to specify how many employees would be affected by the production shutdown, which is the part of a three-year overhaul to eliminate 12,000 to 15,000 jobs.
