Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology is commonly found in supermarket and other retailers` supply chains. The rights and wrongs of using RFID tags on humans is a debatable issue. Now, Japanese authorities have decided to use RFID tags to track schools kids to protect them.
School authorities in the Japanese city of Osaka will now be chipping children in a primary school with RFID tags. The tags will be read by the readers installed in the school gates and other key locations to track the kid`s movement. The chip will either be put onto the kids` school bag, name tags or clothing in one Wakayama prefecture school.
The similar scheme was introduced in Denmark`s Legoland to prevent the children going astray.
