Canon to stop making film cameras.

The $33bn imaging products major, Canon will stop production of film based cameras in the next couple of years. The move comes within a month of rival Nikon’s announcement that it was halting production of film-based cameras due falling demands.

Canon India VP Alok Bhardwaj confirned in a newspaper article that this decision was taken in winter ’04 at a global level. However, the phase out would not immediately affect volume markets such as China India and Indonesia.
