Focus On New Tech For S- Commerce
Bangalore hosts seminar on RFID

The two-day conference on RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Device) – the next wave of technology innovation, organized by CII in Bangalore provided insight into the technology, its usage and opportunity for Indian companies.

Pawan Kumar, CEO of vMoksha Technologies gave theme address and emphasized that companies should focus on developing new technologies for s- commerce. After e- commerce, c- commerce and m- commerece, it is now turn of s- commerce (Silent commerce).

New technologies allow companies to make ordinary objects intelligent and interactive. By using advanced tagging and sensor technologies, with wireless mobile communications, silent commerce can give companies an unheralded level of insight into consumer behaviour.

This type of commerce is `silent` because objects communicate and commerce takes place without human interaction. The basic device, which is the driving force of this whole technology, is RFID.

Indian companies can target manufacturing, automotive industry, retail industry and cargo industry globally for RFID development. RFID is expected to be a $2.13 billion market by 2005.
