Delta Secures Contract With Cognis
To package products made at its chemical plant in Cincinnati.
A subsidiary of Greif has signed a contract with chemicals and nutritional ingredients manufacturer Cognis to package products made at its chemical plant in Cincinnati.
Delta Companies Group is building a packaging facility at the Cognis site, which a spokeswoman said would be completed by 1 October.
Delta will package hair and body, skin care and home care products, in addition to synlubes, adhesives, emulsions, coatings, agrichem and mining products in containers including drums, pails, kegs, totes and quart and gallon packages.
Delta vice president of operations Dano Lister said, `This will be a model site capable of handling the breadth of products produced by Cognis and the multiple sizes of packages they require.`
Cognis has its North American headquarters and plant in Cincinnati. The firm is part of German chemical manufacturer Cognis Deutschland.
Delaware-based Greif, the producer of steel, plastic, fibre, corrugated and multiwall containers, protective packaging and containerboard, reported a 31 percent increase in net profit to $ 69.5 m (£ 37.8 m) in the third quarter of 2008.
Net sales rose by 18 percent to $ 1 bn in the quarter, driven by strong organic sales growth in industrial products and higher selling prices, in response to higher raw material costs.
