DS Smith Packaging, the corrugated packaging specialist, has received the Carbon Trust's energy efficiency accreditation.
The accreditation recognises the firm's investment in reducing energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.
Bob McLellan, chief executive of DS Smith Packaging, said that the corrugated packaging had 'strong environmental credentials' because it could be recycled many times.
`But it's important our customers know we are successfully reducing energy consumption across the business,` he said.
More than 200 organisations have already been accredited by the scheme, but DS Smith is the first corrugated packaging manufacturer.
The scheme is monitored by the National Energy Foundation and moderated by the Energy Institute.
