Cutting Conversion Costs
Windsor Machines develops a new series of Multilayer lines.

Windsor Machines Ltd. (WML), maintaining the tradition of constantly working on reduction of conversion costs, has developed a new series of Multilayer lines – REX, which gives an edge to the processor. The REX series of IBC lines enable processors to use economical structures without compromising the functional requirements as well as production levels.

The soaring polymer prices and competition have compelled technocrats in various areas to look for non-conventional methods to minimise the cost of raw material. The new configuration by Windsor serves the purpose by enabling a processor to run upto 1:5:1 structure for three layer lamination films. Generally, the main bottlenecks, while running this structure on a conventional line, necessitate reduction of outputs as well as bring imbalance in the flow of the die.

However, Windsor brings a solution to this problem. “We, by virtue of our long standing association with Kuhne have a SPIRAL die design, which ensures a balanced flow even with varied layer ratios.

“The extruder balancing is also done to ensure that total output is not compromised,” says Dipen Shah, General Manager - Marketing of the company. “The total cost benefit which a processor can avail as per present polymer prices is to the tune of Rs 30-60 lacs per annum depending on structure”.
