Creo installs 5000th CTP
`More printers are going digital`
Creo Asia Pacific Ltd has installed its 5000th Computer to Plate (CTP) system this month, the company claimed in a press release issued in Hong Kong on March 11.
It is a milestone not only for the company but for the whole industry, said the company adding, ``It signifies that more and more printers are adopting digital solutions – including CTP – as a way to remain competitive and keep their customers smiling under increasingly demanding market conditions.`` There were a total of 13,500 CTP units across the world at the end of 2002, of which, about 36% are Creo systems, claimed the company. Newspaper, packaging and converting industries are also going for CTP these days. Like the commercial printers, these businesses depend on the integrity of digital workflows to achieve superior quality, greater consistency, and improved productivity in the pressroom, the release said. Creo offers the three top-selling CTP devices in the world (Trendsetter®, Lotem™ and Trendsetter VLF), and the two leading workflow systems (Brisque™, and Prinergy®).
The company, which is dedicated to thermal imaging technology, was the first to introduce a viable thermal CTP system in 1995. The company also claimed that it has a market share of over 40% in commercial CTP market. In very large format CTP market, its market share is close to 90%, the release said. Creo has been able to head forward in the flexo CTP market too. Within a short span of two years the company has achieved 25% of the market share.
