Brazil`s Packaging Exports Increase
The study predicts growth of 3 percent for the Brazilian packaging industry for the full year.
The Brazilian Packaging Association (ABRE) reported a 22 percent growth in packaging exports to $ 280 m (£ 153 m) in the first half of 2008, according to a study carried out by the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV).
Empty packaging imports increased 33 percent between January and June compared with the same period in 2007. Total imports rose to R $ 211 m (£ 71 m).
The study predicts growth of 3 percent for the Brazilian packaging industry for the full year, with net revenues of R $ 34.7 bn.
ABRE represents the complete packaging supply chain. It was established in 1967 and now has more than 270 members.
