Birla to revive Aditya Aluminium
Alumina from Utkal project to be used

The AV Birla group is likely to soon revive its Aditya Aluminum Company. The Rs. 1.1 billion Greenfield integrated aluminum project was conceived in Orissa. The project was abandoned for two years. The plan to revive it comes after the Birlas upped their stake in the Utkal Alumina project to 55 per cent.

The revival made possible as alumina from Utkal project can be used at Aditya Aluminum that is to be into metal. The project will propel Birla group into the top five bracket in the world with a 0.7 million ton primary metal capacity. The group already has a 0.24 million ton plant at Hindalco, with an expansion programme currently on to increase it to 0.34 million ton.
