Aims to be leading player in ASIA-Pacific paper industry
Ballarpur Industries Ltd has embarked on massive expansion plans to cross the one million tonne mark in paper ands pulp production and thus increase its market share to 25%.
BILT, which is already in the process of restructuring the company, will concentrate on writing and printing paper and hive off its industrial paper unit at Ashti in Maharashtra and the Duplex Board and other packaging paper unit at Serval in Tamilnadu into separate companies.
BILT managing director Gautam Thapar is confident that the new plans will help improve the company`s bottomline. As it is. The company has been able to reduce its operating cost by Rs 2,000 per tonne with the restructuring and the savings will be even more in the near future.
